Copycat Cajun Fries (Popeyes’ style)

An American snack built around russet potatoes and olive oil spray — on the table in 50 minutes. The macros do the talking: 4g protein, 32g carbs, and 2g fat in every 160-calorie serving. It scales cleanly if you are cooking for more than one.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Cut the potatoes into 1/4-inch batons and soak 30 minutes in cold water; this rinses off the starch that makes fries gummy.
  2. Dry them thoroughly — water is the enemy of crisp. Towel off every drop.
  3. Toss with a whisper of oil spray and half the seasoning so the salt lands on every fry.
  4. Air-fry at 400°F in a single layer, 15 to 18 minutes, shaking halfway; crowding steams them, so cook in two batches if you must.
  5. Hit with the remaining seasoning the second they come out, while the surface is still tacky enough to grab it.
