Ingredients
- 7 oz Ground beef
- 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 cup Mushrooms
- 1 cup Beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire
- 1 cup Mashed potatoes
Steps
- In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with the breadcrumbs, a big pinch of salt, and plenty of black pepper. Form into 2 oval patties about 3/4 inch thick. Handle the meat just until it holds together so the patties stay tender.
- Sear the patties in a large skillet over medium-high heat, 3-4 minutes per side, until well browned. They will finish cooking in the gravy, so set them aside.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the same skillet and sauté 4-5 minutes, until golden and their liquid has cooked off.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire, scraping the bottom of the pan, and simmer 5-6 minutes until the gravy thickens enough to coat a spoon.
- Return the patties to the pan and simmer 8-10 minutes, flipping once, until the gravy is rich and the patties are cooked through with no pink inside.
- Serve over mashed potatoes with plenty of mushroom gravy spooned on top.
