Ingredients
- 2 cans Condensed milk
- 0.5 cup Cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 cup Chocolate sprinkles
- 0.25 tsp Salt
Steps
- Combine the condensed milk, cocoa, butter, and salt in a heavy saucepan. The cocoa must be fully dissolved before the heat goes on, or it stays gritty.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, for 10 to 12 minutes. It is done when the mixture pulls away from the bottom and a spoon dragged through leaves a clean trail.
- Spread onto a buttered plate and cool completely — warm brigadeiro cannot be rolled, and patience here pays off.
- With buttered hands, roll into small balls, about a tablespoon each. Keep them small; brigadeiro is rich.
- Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles, pressing gently so they stick all over.
- Set in mini paper cups and serve at room temperature. No Brazilian birthday party exists without a towering plate of these.
