Copycat SuperSonic Bacon Double Cheeseburger (Sonic style)

This is the kind of American dinner you’ll make on repeat — lean ground beef (90/10) and burger buns, 25 minutes, big payoff. Each serving lands at 620 calories with 52g of protein, so it eats like a much heavier meal. Naturally high-protein, it scales cleanly if you are cooking for more than one.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Cook the bacon until it crisps — Sonic’s bacon shatters a little, and that crunch against the soft bun matters.
  2. Form four 3-oz patties and sear them hard in a cast-iron skillet, 2 minutes a side, salting as they cook.
  3. Cheese two patties in the last minute and stack the plain ones on top, so the cheese glues the doubles together.
  4. Toast the buns in the bacon fat until the faces turn amber.
  5. Mayo on the crown, then the double stack, bacon crossed on top, tomato, and a fistful of shredded lettuce.
  6. Wrap each burger in foil for 2 minutes — that little steam bath is the drive-in secret nobody writes down.
