Ingredients
- 14 oz Firm tofu
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup Peanut butter
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1/2 Lime
Steps
- Press the tofu first: wrap the block in a clean kitchen towel, set a heavy skillet on top, and rest 20 minutes. Beginner tip: pressing is what separates crispy tofu from soggy tofu. Don’t skip it.
- Heat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the pressed tofu into 3/4-inch cubes. Toss with the cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and a teaspoon of oil until every cube is lightly dusted.
- Arrange on the sheet without touching. Space is what lets them crisp instead of steaming.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes, turning once halfway, until golden and firm with crisp edges.
- While they bake, whisk the peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, and warm water, a spoonful at a time, into a pourable sauce.
- Toss the hot tofu cubes in half the sauce so every piece glistens, and serve the rest alongside for dunking.
