Ingredients
- 1 lb Pizza dough
- 0.75 lb Ground beef
- 1 Onion
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Bell pepper
- 0.5 cup Parsley
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 2 tsp Salt
Steps
- Mix the beef with finely diced onion, tomatoes, bell pepper, parsley, paprika, and salt. Keep the filling loose — a dense filling makes a heavy pide.
- Divide the dough into 4 pieces and roll each into a long oval, about 12 inches. The shape should suggest a boat, not a pizza.
- Spread the filling down the center of each oval, leaving a 1-inch border. Fold the edges up over the filling and pinch the ends to form the boat shape.
- Beat one egg and brush it over the exposed dough edges for a glossy, golden crust. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
- Bake at 475°F for 12 to 14 minutes, until the crust is deep golden and the filling is cooked through and sizzling.
- Slide onto a board, brush the crust with a little more butter, and serve hot — pide waits for no one.
