Sausage Rolls
Puff pastry does the heavy lifting here, with pork sausage meat rounding it out. A British snack that takes 45 minutes, start to finish. It is weeknight cooking that still hits your targets — 12 grams of protein per serving. It scales cleanly if you are cooking for more than one.

Ingredients
- 1 lb Puff pastry
- 1 lb Pork sausage meat
- 0.5 Yellow onion
- 1 tbsp Fresh sage
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp English mustard
Steps
- Mix the sausage meat with the grated onion, chopped sage, mustard, salt, and pepper. Season boldly — pastry mutes seasoning.
- Roll the pastry into a long rectangle, lay the sausage in a log down the center, and roll the pastry around it, sealing with beaten egg.
- Chill 15 minutes so the pastry is firm, then cut into 2-inch rolls. Slash the tops twice and brush with egg wash.
- Bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes until puffed, deep golden, and sizzling.
- Cool 5 minutes — the filling is molten — then serve warm. The essential British party food; a buffet without sausage rolls is just a meeting.
