Ingredients
- 2 lb Pork shoulder
- 1/3 cup Char siu sauce
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 lb Gai lan
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1.5 cups Cooked rice
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
Steps
- Heat the oven to 425°F and set a rack over a foil-lined baking sheet — the sugary marinade drips and burns otherwise.
- Cut the pork into long strips and coat with the char siu sauce and honey; marinate 30 minutes.
- Roast 40 minutes, basting twice with the pan juices, until the edges caramelize and char in spots.
- The pork is done when it reads 145°F inside and looks lacquered.
- While it roasts, blanch the gai lan 2 minutes in salted boiling water until bright green.
- Toss the greens with sliced garlic, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt.
- Rest the pork 5 minutes, then slice against the grain.
- Serve over rice with the gai lan alongside.
