Ingredients
- 3 cups Whole milk
- 5 Egg yolks
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 6 Maria cookies
Steps
- Warm the milk with the cinnamon stick until steaming, then let it infuse off the heat for 10 minutes.
- Whisk the yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth, then temper with the warm milk.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens enough to coat a spoon — pull it before it boils.
- Pour into individual dishes and top each with a Maria cookie.
- Dust with ground cinnamon and chill at least 2 hours.
- Serve cold; the cookie softens into the custard and becomes part of the dessert.
