Ingredients
- 4 slices Baguette
- 1 cup Tomatoes
- 1 handful Basil
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
Steps
- Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and slice the baguette into 4 diagonal slices about 1/2 inch thick.
- Brush both sides of each slice lightly with olive oil and lay them on a sheet pan.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes, flipping once, until golden and crisp at the edges but still a little chewy in the center.
- While the bread is still warm, rub each slice once firmly with the cut side of the garlic clove — the rough toast grabs the flavor.
- Chop the tomatoes into small pieces and toss with the torn basil and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
- Spoon the tomato mixture onto each crostini and finish with a thin drizzle of olive oil.
- Serve within 20 minutes so the bread stays crisp; don't assemble ahead or the tomatoes will soak the toast.
