Ingredients

Steps

  1. Rinse the grape leaves under cold running water to wash off excess brine, then pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, stir the cooked rice with the pine nuts, chopped dill, lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Lay one leaf shiny-side down with the stem end toward you. Trim off any tough stem nub with a paring knife.
  4. Place a tablespoon of filling just above the stem end.
  5. Fold the two sides inward over the filling, then roll away from you into a snug cigar. Not too tight, the rice expands slightly. Beginner tip: loose rolls fall apart in your hands, aim for firm but not bursting.
  6. Arrange seam-side down on a serving platter and repeat with the rest.
  7. Drizzle with a little more olive oil, tuck lemon wedges around the platter, and serve at room temperature.
